Our charity (registered charity number 1056777) was set up in 1991 under our old name of Tranmere Alliance by a number of community minded individuals to encourage people to address issues affecting them. The group acquired the shop holding that is our main head office today and gradually began to increase the provision of services.
By 2003 Tranmere Alliance had built upon its foundations to run a staffed advice centre with a full time Advice Worker, as well as providing youth and community activities throughout the Tranmere / Rock Ferry area.
At this point our charity began to expand further with the successful launch of the Wirral Mediation Service, a free service to provide impartial mediation for residents across the Wirral to deal with issues such as neighbour disputes funded by the local Council and Anti Social Behaviour Team. We also acquired further Lottery funding for a second Adviser post in the advice centre and expanded our community activities and events via Neighbourhood Renewal Funding.
In 2006 we were successful in obtaining a local government contract to launch a unique service called Reachout in five of the most deprived areas of the Wirral. The premise behind Reachout is that it is essentially a door knocking service engaging with hard to reach clients by going to their homes and assisting them.
The aim of Reachout is to support individuals and families directly in their own home who have been let down by mainstream services who might not otherwise be aware of or have access to such information from other organisations We take a people first approach to providing support in overcoming barriers and helping those hard to reach people into employment, as well as providing help and advice on a variety of matters.
