Wirral Mediation Service accepts referrals from many areas in the North West.

We deliver mediation services for neighbours in dispute and for young people and their families where there is a risk of a young person becoming homeless.

The service is independent, impartial and free of charge to Wirral residents and many of our other clients. The Mediators are fully trained and work to guidelines laid down by Mediation UK.

The service is supported by 7 local authorities including Wirral, Liverpool, Chester and St Helens.

 In the last year we have:
     
  i dealt with over 300 cases
  i mediated in more than 150 cases
  i worked in partnership with more than 30 agencies
  i supported more than 500 families
  i achieved an average 70% success rate
     
   
   
 

What is Mediation?

   
  Mediation is a process in which an impartial third party helps people to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
 

 
 

When Can Mediation Help?

     
  i Both parties are willing to participate
  i Misunderstanding or lack of communication are partly to blame
  i Your own efforts to negotiate have failed
  i Conflict is continuing or escalating
  i A dispute or conflict suddenly arises
     
 

When Is Mediation Appropriate?

     
  i Noise nuisance

Points to Remember

     
  i

The service is impartial regardless of who made initial contact with the service.
  i The process is voluntary and either party can withdraw at any point.
  i No information will be passed to any other agency without your consent.
  i Mediation may not work in every case but has a high success rate.
