Young Advisors are young people who show community leaders and decision makers how to engage young people in community life, regeneration and renewal.

Young Advisors are trained and employed consultants who guide local authorities, housing associations and other local partners about what it is like for a young person to live, work, learn and play in their neighbourhood.

Our team of 5 Young Advisors work across the area, helping to improve services and facilities for children and young people. Here’s just some of the things they’ve been up to:

    Tranmere/Rock Ferry Children & Young People’s Plan
We youth-proofed the document and presented to over 100 at the launch to give their views on the impact the plan will have on the lives of children & young people in the area.

    Councillors Commission Consultation
We went to London to feedback to the Head of the Commission what young people in our community think about councillor’s, about what they do and whether it’s a job they’d consider doing.

    Youth Shelter Consultation
Consulted with local residents on the introduction of a youth shelter in a local park to give young people somewhere to feel safer whilst out with friends.

    Youth Opportunities Fund Application
We were successful in receiving over £13,000 of funding to improve facilities for young people aged 13-19 in our area, in partnership with Housing Market Renewal Initiative.

    Commissioned Activities
We have been responsible for the direct commissioning over £25,000 of youth activities in the area.

    Kooth.com
We have been helping promote a new Wirral-wide online advice service for young people aged 11-25. We’ve been to ‘Freshers Fairs’, college open days and have sat on their Operational Group as part of their consultation.

    Live Wirral Community Award Winners
Tranmere / Rock Ferry Young Advisors are proud winners of the first Live Wirral ‘Supporting Children & Young People 2007’ Award.
